I no longer need to be 'here'. So I just left to try and backpack
around the world.
I put my stuff in storage, closed my businesses and paid my bills. I
don't know where I'm going, but I wanna see if there is somewhere out 'there' I belong. Somewhere I can be doing even more good than here.
I spent years traveling to fighting shows but I always had to be back. Taking Fridays off work and driving 10 hours to a fighting show. Doing a bunch of work and then racing all the way back home for work and family by Monday. I got to enjoy my passion for fighting and MMA - but I went to so many places without ever getting to really see or experience the city itself. Now I don't have to come back so I'm taking off and trying to see as many fighting shows as I can and as many places as I can. This time it's different though. I don't have much money now so I wanna try to trade my talents for maybe a couch at your place or share a hotel with someone at your event. In return I can help you with websites or computers or even set up chairs. I can work your merchandise booth or even commentate or announce. I'll figure out a way to get there by bus or train or driving. You just host me for a couple days and let me take in some culture and sites of your city. I can even broadcast your event LIVE over the Internet (I was a pioneer in this field!)
If you've got a gym or somewhere I can sleep I'll sweep and mop your mats for you or I can even teach a class! If your computer is broke or you need a wireless network set up while I'm there - I can do it for you! I just need a bed and a shower for a couple days.
If you're in a different country I'd like to sit down and talk and
share ideas and trade stories. I wanna try food from all over the
world with you at your dinner table.I also wanna volunteer. I'll serve food or dig a well, or clean up debris from some storm. If I'm not working a regular job then I wanna have some value by giving back in some way.
I'm going to Indiana first for several days for HOOKnSHOOT, and maybe heading to Mexico or West in the US. I wanna head south before heading to Europe or Asia. But I've already left. My journey has already begun. I hope you can help me in some way.
I'll be broadcasting live through SOPCast as much as I can and posting photos of my journey on the Internet.
If you would like to help, please email me - JohnnyW at Gmail.com

LAS VEGAS, NV - HOOKnSHOOT/BODOGFIGHT 2.1.07

FIGHT SKOOL Episode 6 airs Sunday on MyTSN & live here on the FIGHTWORLD website. We will be showing fights from the November 24, 2007 HOOKnSHOOT event. Also, a member of FIGHT SKOOL was brutally attacked by a large group of people and forced out of the competition. Who was it?
Tune in Sunday to find out.

Hook 'N Shoot presents featherweight warriors "Savage" Chad George and Matt Troyer.
Scott Dingman vs. Aaron Simpson
Round 1
The fighters went to the clinch immediately in the bout. Simpson was able to score a trip directly into the mount after having a tight hold with underhooks. Dingman tried repeatedly to buck Simpson off, but he could not escape the position. Simpson pounded away from the mount with lefts and rights until referee Steve Mazzagatti stepped in to save Dingman at 2:40 of the opening period.
Ryan Murray vs. Bryan Humes
Round 1
Good action in the first stanza. Murray got off first with a stiff jab. Humes answered with a hard leg kick, which set the tempo of a decent kick boxing match through much of the round. Murray looks to have the crisper standup, but Humes is connecting harder. After Murray landed a grazing head kick, Humes scooped Murray off his feet and deposited him on the canvas, where he landed solid ground-and-pound for the rest of the round. Near the end of the frame, Humes hurt Murray with a left and a right. 10-9 for Humes.
Round 2
The fighters are tired after the fast-paced opening frame. Humes used his size advantage to pin Murray against the fencing for most of the round, while mixing in the occasional knee strike to the midsection. Murray offered a stiff low kick in return at times, but could not mount any offense. Hume landed a right hand before time expired. 10-9 Hume.
Round 3
Murray kept his distance as the third round got underway, but it wasn't long before Humes was back in the mix, throwing hard shots. A left uppercut on the chin followed by a right straight ended the bout at the 1:30 mark, as referee Yves Lavigne stepped in to halt the contest. Impressive show by Humes.
Angela Magana vs. Lynn Alvarez
Round 1
Magana and Alvarez went toe-to-toe early, with both fighters connecting often. Alvarez got a takedown and took side-control before transitioning to Magana's back, where she looked unsuccessfully for a rear-naked choke. Alvarez got free of the position and landed some strikes from the top. The fighters went back to their feet, where Alvarez landed two hard shots before the bell sounded to end a close round. 10-9 for Alvarez.
Round 2
Magana took the fight to the ground with a well executed trip takedown with underhooks. Alvarez swept Magana, but was immediately caught in a fight-ending armbar at 1:25 of the second.
Chad George vs. Rick Screeton
Round 1
Screeton missed two wild headkicks before pulling guard. George lifted Screeton into the air and slammed him down. Screeton then went for a gogplata, but George had none of it. Again, George picked Screeton up off the floor and slammed him down, but this time he went limp, forcing Mazzagatti to show mercy just 39 seconds into the fight after George followed up the slam with a few punches.
Chris Kennedy vs. Seth Baczynski
Round 1
Baczynski landed a crisp right cross that stunned Kennedy, and followed the punch with a tight guillotine attempt. Kennedy escaped the hold and waited for referee Herb Dean to break up the stalemate on the canvas. Baczynski then landed a right hand that floored Kennedy. Several follow up punches conntected to Kennedy's head as Dean waved off the bout at the 2:50 mark.
Kaitlin Young vs. Sara Schneider
Round 1
The ladies trade in the center of the cage but nothing lands solidly. Schneider scored a takedown and went for three armbars, but Young defended well and escaped danger every time. A scramble allowed Young to get back to her feet, where she blasted her opponent with a left kick to the head and a right hand. Schneider was hurt but survived and got another takedown. Young ended the round landing leather from Schneider's guard. 10-9 for Kaitlin Young.
Round 2
Young dropped Schneider with a straight left in the opening seconds of round two. Young, looking to finish her opponent, pounced with punches to her fallen opponent. Schneider again recovered quickly and slapped on an armbar from her guard. Young struggled but was forced to tap at the 0:35 mark of the second stanza.
Nick Thompson vs. John Troyer
Round 1
Thompson landed two hard left hands to get the main event started. Troyer retaliated with a beautiful slam takedown that seemed to break Thompson's nose on impact. Troyer took Thompson's back and worked for an armbar, but he escaped and took the top position. Thompson then teed off from the guard, returning the favor with lefts and rights that busted up Troyer's nose. Thompson stood up and dragged Troyer by his right foot to the center of the cage, where he continued to rain punches down from half-guard. Troyer gave up his back to avoid more punishment, and was stopped by a rear-naked choke at 3:46 of the first.

Hope all you Nevadians (and others) are planning on hitting up the Las Vegas Sport Center for Troyer VS. Thompson this Friday. Should be a hoot.
There have been some changes. Unfortunately, due to changes in the Nevada Athletic commission, the tournament has been canceled, so now the two first fights will be simply that. Also, Ryan Murray is Bryan Humes’s new opponent, and, as has been reported elsewhere, Sara Schneider is the new replacement for Kaitlin Young’s opponent.
The updated card is as follows:
John Troyer VS. Nick Thompson - Welterweight Title
Kaitlin Young VS. Sara Schneider - Women’s 135
Chad George VS. Rick Screeton - Featherweight
Lynn Alvarez VS. Angela Magana - Women’s 125
Ryan Murray VS. Bryan Humes - Heavyweight
David Graham VS. Scott Dingman - Light HW
Seth Baczynski VS. Chris Kennedy - Welterweight
Waachim Spiritwolf VS. Jeremy Razonable - Welterweight

In cooperation with Tuff ‘N Uff, we’re presenting Bodog Fight: Nick Thompson VS. John Troyer, a title match, along with nine other thrilling bouts on February 1st at the Sports Center Las Vegas.
Here’s the present card. As usual, it may change before fight night.
John Troyer VS. Nick Thompson Welterweight
Kaitlin Young VS. Karina Taylor Women’s 135
Chad George VS. Rick Screeton Featherweight
Lynn Alvarez VS. Angela Magana Women’s 125
Philip Friedman VS. Bryan Humme Heavyweight
David Graham VS. TBA Light HW
Kenny Trevino Chris Kennedy Welterweight
Waachim Spiritwolf Jeremy Razonable Welterweight
The last four fighters listed are in fact members of a 170lb tournament that will be decided in a three-fight series.
I’m particularly excited to see Kaitlin Young fight again. She absolutely totaled her opponents in the 8-woman Hook ‘N Shoot 135/125 tournament, managing to slug through the night in under 1:53 of actual fight time. With a pro record of only 3-0, Kaitlin’s an up-and-comer worth keeping an eye on.
Nick Thompson is our present Welterweight belt-holder - but John Troyer is a solid contender having recently dominated the Hook ‘N Shoot Middleweight Tournament on November 29th in Evansville. Catch two of his fights here and here. But the question is - can he stop The Goat?
To find out, head over here now to get your tickets.
The long awaited debut of FIGHT SKOOL is finally online. Follow the link below to watch the first episode and see bonus footage.

Both men defeated two other men apiece earlier on in the night. Now they face off against one another for the 185lbs HOOKnSHOOT Middleweight World Title. This one is sure to thrill!

Bodog Fight Welterweight Champion Nick “The Goat” Thompson will defend his title against hard-hitting John Troyer on February 1 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“It’s always exciting when ‘The Goat’ steps into the ring,” says Bodog Fight’s billionaire founder Calvin Ayre.
“Nick is a larger than life character, so it’s fitting that this fight will take place under the neon lights in Las Vegas.”
Bodog Fight: Nick Thompson vs. John Troyer will take place at the Las Vegas Sport Center. Doors open at 6:30p.m., fights start at 7:30p.m.
Thompson (39-8-1), who suffered a shoulder injury in November and was forced to withdraw from a scheduled bout in Indiana, says he’s back to 100-percent and will be at his best for this title match with Troyer (8-0).
“From what I hear, Troyer’s a tough guy,” says “The Goat”. “He is undefeated and recently beat three guys in one night to win an 8-man HOOKnSHOOT tournament, so I’m expecting a tough fight.”
Troyer, who fights out of Louisville, Kentucky, may be tough, but after knocking out the previously undefeated Eddie Alvarez to win the welterweight title belt last April at Bodog Fight: Clash of the Nations in St. Petersburg, Russia and Cage Rage veteran Mark “The Wizard” Weir four months later in Vancouver, Canada “The Goat” is supremely self-confident.
“You’d be a fool not to bet on me,” says the Minnesota native. “The fact this fight is taking place in Vegas on Super Bowl weekend just means that a lot of people are going to get to see me whoop his ass.”
“Not necessarily,” says Bodog Fight commissioner and HOOKnSHOOT founder, Jeff Osborne. “Troyer is one of those 200-pound guys who cuts down to 170 pounds, and he’s a monster. He holds four different titles at middleweight, so Nick will have his hands full.”
The fantastic February 1 fight card will also feature a four-man tournament, plus the return of Bodog Fight’s newest female knockout sensation, Kaitlin Young.
Young (3-0) scored three spectacular KO’s November 24 at a Bodog-sponsored tournament in Indiana, with Patti Lee, Meisha Tate and Suzi Smith each tasting the canvas in the very first round.
February 1 in Las Vegas, Young will look to continue her path of destruction against an opponent worthy of her astounding skills.
Tickets are available at Ticketmaster, with prices starting at $30.00.

Evansville plays host to yet another Hook ‘N Shoot match, this time between “Pretty” Victor Vitola and multiple Golden Gloves winner Merrit Warren. There’s some showboating.
Joseph Baize made it very clear last Saturday Night at the HOOKnSHOOT event that he wanted the title and didn't think David Overfield or Merritt Warren deserved the shot.
We caught up with Joseph and asked him a few questions. Follow the link below to read/comment the interview.

Tune in Tuesday, November 20 for an exciting middleweight bout between Scott Henze (20-9-2) and Steve Connelly (12-3), filmed September 29 in Evansville, Indiana.
Henze was looking to rebound from a devastating loss to former Bodog Fight Welterweight Champion Eddie Alvarez, who KO'd the Indiana native in Costa Rica earlier this year.
Conversely, Connelly, also from Indiana, came in riding a three-fight win streak.
"Connelly's a real character," says Bodog Fight Commissioner Jeff Osborne.
"He won the world face-sucking contest and appeared in the National Enquirer when he was just nine years old. He was able to suck his entire face in like an old man, mainly because he had no teeth."
Connelly fights under the nickname "No Sweat", but not because he takes it easy in the ring.
"He was born without sweat glands," says Osborne.
"Unfortunately, this means he can't cut weight the way most fighters do, by sweating off the pounds in the sauna. He has to do it the old-fashioned way - diet and exercise."

THOMPSON VS ALVAREZ IS OFF!
Nick Thompson will not make weight - the re-match is off
